It’s going to be a personal best

This weekend I’m doing a 5km run. Given that I’ve never run a timed 5km before this is by definition going to be my personal best time. I’m told it’s a fast course (uphill half the way and then downhill all the way home) but that doesn’t really matter to me. My goal is to finish in under 30min. I think this is very realistic but we’ll see. Wish me luck!

Planning ahead: the sport of my thirties

I’ve said this many times before but this may be the first time I’ve blogged about it. I consider basketball to have been the sport of my teens and ultimate frisbee to be the sport of my twenties. I play a bunch of other sports but these were certainly the two primary sports. Recently it has become clear to me that I may need to find a new primary sport for my thirties. On Saturday I had two ultimate frisbee games. They completely knocked me out. I went to bed at 9pm and slept in until 9am Sunday morning!

Now I have three years before I actually enter my thirties so I’m planning way ahead of time. I’m like that. Here’s the (alphabetical, no ordering implied) list of potential sports I’ve compiled: cycling (I imagine this gets at least one vote), running, softball, swimming, tennis, volleyball and yoga.
